چکیده

Within the past few years there has been renewed interest in the study of value-passing process calculi as a consequence of the emergence of the π-calculus. Here, [MPW89] have determined two variants of the notion of bisimulation, late and early bisimilarity. Most recently [San93] has proposed the new notion of open bisimulation equivalence. In this paper we consider Plain LAL, a mobile process calculus which differs from the π-calculus in the sense that the communication of data values happens asynchronously. The surprising result is that in the presence of asynchrony, the open, late and early bisimulation equivalences coincide – this in contrast to the π–calculus where they are distinct. The result allows us to formulate a common equational theory which is sound and complete for finite terms of Plain LAL.

Extending Howe's Method to Early Bisimulations for Typed Mobile Embedded Resources with Local Names

We extend Howe’s method to prove that input-early strong and -delay contextual bisimulations are congruences for the Higher-order mobile embedded resources (Homer) calculus, a typed higher order process calculus with active mobile processes, nested locations and local names which conservatively extends the syntax and semantics of higher-order calculi such as Plain CHOCS and HOpi. We prove that ...

On Asynchronous Session Semantics

This paper studies a behavioural theory of the π-calculus with session types under the fundamental principles of the practice of distributed computing — asynchronous communication which is order-preserving inside each connection (session), augmented with asynchronous inspection of events (message arrivals). A new theory of bisimulations is introduced, distinct from either standard asynchronous ...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Sound Bisimulations for Higher-Order Distributed Process Calculus

While distributed systems with transfer of processes have become pervasive, methods for reasoning about their behaviour are underdeveloped. In this paper we propose a bisimulation technique for proving behavioural equivalence of such systems modelled in the higher-order π-calculus with passivation (and restriction). Previous research for this calculus is limited to context bisimulations and nor...

Specification and Analysis of Asynchronous Systems using CADP

The design of complex industrial critical systems involving asynchronous parallelism requires the use of formal methods, assisted by appropriate verification tools, in order to detect and correct errors as early as possible. In this paper, we illustrate the use of the Cadp toolbox for the formal modeling and verification of such systems by considering as an example a unit dedicated to the drill...
